This is our final opportunity.
We were told that bill Bill A3986 (Pots off the Reef) would be posted for a vote. This should have been posted yesterday and was not. We have been in contact with Speaker Roberts office since yesterday but still have no explanation for why the bill is not posted.
It is grassroots efforts that turned the election in District 12 and unseated the incumbants. It is grassroots efforts that are needed if we are ever to see this bill posted in the assembly.
Although we do not have a reason for Speaker Roberts not posting the bill A3986 - the fact that we have not received an explanation from his office is NOT a good omen. If we want to make a difference, if we want to hold our elected officials accountable, then it is up to us to make the calls and apply pressure to ensure this bill is posted for a vote.
Just call (856) 742-7600, and tell the person that answers the phone that you would like to speak with the Chief of Staff. Let him know that you expect the assembly to honor their word and to post bill A3986 for a vote (Pots off the Reef bill.) The Chief of Staff is aware of the bill.
It is that simple.
So send Trenton a message. Remind them that anglers, hunters and trappers are not to be taken for granted any longer - as we proved in District 12. Remind them that we remain committed to our grassroots efforts and that we will be voting in the upcoming November elections.
FYI - there are a few legislators who have federal (Washington DC) aspirations in this upcoming November elections. These legislators have influence on whether this bill is posted.
Remind Trenton that we will be watching for the legislators that keep their word and voting accordingly in November. If bill A3986 is not posted the bill is lost and we will have to start from scratch. Below are links to the bill in various formats.
Call Speaker Roberts today. The NJOA Council has only prioritized the passage of 3 bills and this is one of them.
Thanks
Ant
