If we do not vote we will have to listen to comments like those found below from Chaifetz for 4 more years.

Subject: [AP-PAC] Thoughts Before the Election and the Last Call
ForVolunteers DO NOT FORWARD
 Dear friends,
In just two nights from now the polls will close and the votes cast
on election day will begin to be counted. There will be victors and
the defeated, and mired somewhere amongst them may very well be the
fate of our wildlife. As we face this uncertain future, the past and
all the events that lead us here move to the fore of my thoughts.
In 2003, after scandal erupted with Republican Senate incumbent John
Bennett, the long held Republican bastion of the 12th district turned
and Democrats Ellen Karcher, Mike Panter and Bob Morgan won the three
seats. In 2005, when only the Assembly seats were up (the Senate is
every four years and Assembly every two) Bob Morgan was defeated and
Mike Panter survived and held onto his seat by a mere 70 vote margin.
The woman who won Bob Morgan's seat is Jennifer Beck. Beck is now
challenging Ellen Karcher for the Senate position.
I remember the first time I spoke to Mike Panter; it was the day
before the election in 2003. Someone had forwarded me an email of his
where he said he was a vegetarian, and I decided to reach out to him
and offer what support we could. This was before we had created the
Animal Protection PAC, so our help basically came down to me and a
few others reaching out to everyone we knew and asking them to vote.
Over the course of the next two years, while a few of us resolved to
make the dream of a political organization dedicated to animal
protection a reality, Mike proved to be a true friend to animals and
a good and decent legislator. When he faced that trying time in
2005, we were there, as the Animal Protection PAC, to offer the help
we could as a fully formed and operational political machine. We put
our focus on a volunteer effort that became so strong that out of
their total volunteer force, we comprised an overwhelming 75%
majority. When you consider what we had done, and that victory was
won by such close measure, we had, without question, proved that
animals and the activists who fight for them not only mattered, but
that we could be the decisive force in an election.
Today, in 2007, we are being tested as never before. As we rose for
an honorable cause, there are those who are our dark mirror image,
the negative to our positive, who seek political power not to create
a better or more kind world, but to instead hold onto power, and then
use that power to kill. I speak of the PAC formed by the hunters.
I have to admit that I underestimated them; I never thought they
would be as dishonest and act as disgracefully as they have. I was
also surprised to just how malicious their op-eds were, and how
viciously they attacked my friends. Just as there was no truth in
their words, there was no shame either.
While they plotted and enacted their strategy, we moved to our own
course, countering them every time, appearing to be on the defensive
when necessary, then striking at the most opportune moment. That we
were able, with a much smaller corps of people, plan and execute a
rally exactly opposite to what the hunters were doing, beat them to
punch and get better press on a widely read Sunday newspaper while
they lagged on Monday, was one of the key moments.
This election has been a true slugfest. But it's not over yet - and
you can still play a pivotal role in the outcome.
The Panter/Karcher "Get Out The Vote" effort on election day is
critically important, and volunteers are desperately needed to help
in what could be the difference between triumph and loss. Every body
will count and even if you can only spare a few hours, it will be
 tremendously appreciated.
If you have any time on Monday or Tuesday, please contact the
campaign office at 732 577 6800 and tell them you want to help. Tell
them that because Mike and Ellen have stood in defense of animals,
you will be there to stand in defense of them. You can ask for Geoff
Borshof and mention I sent you.
This is the political battle of our age. Let us fight it to it's
conclusion with pride, dignity and the strength that is born from an
 virtuous cause.
